The term Kommanditgesellschaft, abbreviated KG, is one of three forms of limited partnership known in Germany. It represents a limited partnership consisting of a general partner (named Komplementär) with unlimited liability and one or more limited partner[s] (named Kommanditist[en]) whose liability is limited to their fixed contributions to the partnership. A Kommanditgesellschaft is not a legal entity, but it can acquire rights and liabilities, purchase property and sue or be sued.
