Elfenbeinporzellan

Elfenbeinporzellan is the generic term for all items with a certain body colour, outside Germany usually called, outside Germany usually called (old) ivory (coloured) porcelain. Especially the name Old Ivory is particularly interesting in this context, as many people wrongly believe that Hermann Ohme (Niedersalzbrunn, Silesia) actually owned the rights to the name. He registered trade marks containing the term (which were accepted on the basis of their appearance), but the name Old Ivory itself could not be registered or copyrighted as it was a common description of a particular colour.
