is a play with words and describes the sudden occuring nostalgia related with East German products after German reunification in 1990. It was at first only held for a short-lived hype but was still going strong in 2005.
The term itself is based on the German word Nostalgie (nostalgia) from which the first letter was ommitted. Ost is the word for east, hence the term can be literally be translated as east-algia.
