is the German term for dishwasher safe; a similar term with the same meaning would be spülmaschinen-geeignet which literally stands for suitable for dishwasher use.
Blindly trusting such a statement however can lead to disastrous results. Dishwashers became widely available around 1960 and, unlike today's models, primarily used hot water to clean items. Since then, the required water temperature was dramatically reduced by employing various chemical additives. These however are far too aggressive for older 'dishwasher-safe' items and cause everything from simple color fading right up to complete 'greying' of the glaze.
