eingetragene Genossenschaft mit beschränkter Haftung, shorter "eingetragene Genossenschaft mbH", both abbreviated eGmbH, stands for a registered cooperative society with limited liability. Such cooperative societies are not very common in Germany as there are various other business forms there which better fit certain requirements, however they are also mentioned here as counterpart to the simpler form of Genossenschaft which is a common form of company in Switzerland.
Although the abbreviation is quite similar, it should not be confused with the GmbH, which is a very common form of company in Germany.
