The term Nachfolger ("successor[s]") is sometimes used as part of a company name to indicate a change of ownership without changing the business name of the previous owner. This form is used where the new owner is not related to the previous owner but wishes to retain the previous name for marketing and/or legal reasons. Releated terms are Erben ("heirs") or Nachfahren ("descendants").
